How to Link to Us

If you have a website you can provide your visitors with the power of a Go Get Me A ... search. There are several ways to do this:

Link to our home page

Link directly to a particular category search page with, optionally, search criteria to pre-populate the search fields

Request a search of a particular site, passing the required search criteria

Linking to our site provides you with the following benefits:

  • Allow your visitors to search other sites without you needing to know how to search those sites
  • If a site changes how it works then we will be updating our search so you don't need to change a thing
  • It's free to use!

Currently Go Get Me A ... has two groups of categories. One for providing links specific to UK orientated websites and the other for USA orientated websites. The UK group has a nickname of GGMA-UK and the USA group a nickname of GGMA-USA.

Link to our home page

The address http://www.gogetmea.com always takes a visitor to the site home page which will let them choose which country to search in.

To directly link to the UK group home page use the following:

http://www.gogetmea.com/GGMA-UK/index.html

You can also use the following link, which will always display the UK home:

http://www.gogetmea.co.uk

To directly link to the USA group home page use the following:

http://www.gogetmea.com/GGMA-USA/index.html

Link directly to a particular category search page with, optionally, search criteria to pre-populate the search fields

To link directly to a particular category you must specifiy the group nickname and category page:

For UK - Comparison Shopping - Books you would use - http://www.gogetmea.com/GGMA-UK/search/cComBoo.html

If you want to pre-populate the search fields with text then just add the relevant field names and text as parameters.

For example, searching for the book "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown use the following:

http://www.gogetmea.com/GGMA-UK/search/cComBoo.html?author=Dan%20Brown&title=The%20Da%20Vinci%20Code

Use the following to get a breakdown of each category and related search fields available:

GGMA-UK - UK Related Sites

GGMA-USA - USA Related Sites

Tips for linking:

  • The link should open a new browser window as the whole Go Get Me A ... site will be displayed.
  • Replace space characters in search fields with %20 - e.g. for author of Dan Brown use Dan%20Brown
  • The order of the parameters is not important
  • Our website pages rely on a visitor's browser having javascript enabled.

Displaying a Search Page in a Frame

If you want to display a particular category within a frame within your site, rather than opening a new browser window, then you can use the following style of link:

For UK - Comparison Shopping - Books you would use - http://www.gogetmea.com/GGMA-UK/powered/pComBoo.html

This displays just the search page, without the Go Get Me A ... heading, menu or links at the page bottom. You can see an example of what the page looks like on our Framed Example.

You can also pre-populate the search fields with text in a similar way as defined above.

Use the following to get a breakdown of each category and related search fields available:

GGMA-USA - USA Related Sites

Request a search of a particular site, passing the required search criteria

You can request a search of an individual site by passing the site name and search criteria directly to the relevant category's search page. This will redirect the browser to the required site and carry out the search requested (you can launch a new browser window first).

To search Amazon for books by Dan Brown use the following:

http://www.gogetmea.com/GGMA-UK/site/sComBoo.asp?site=Amazon&author=Dan%20Brown
