UK - Comparison Shopping - Books Help
Searching for a popular or mainstream book
When searching for the cheapest price of a popular or mainstream book it is usually best to use the ISBN number which uniquely identifies a book. The shopping comparison sites will then compare prices of that one book rather than books with the same title and/or author.
- First go to a large bookstore, such as Amazon, and search for the book you are interested in:
--> Clicking on the Amazon link without entering any search details will open up Amazon at the book search page.
--> Or enter part of the book title and/or author and then press the link to open up Amazon and get it to carry out the search.
- Once you have found the book:
--> cut and paste the ISBN number into the ISBN field on our site (or if you can´t find it, cut and paste the title and/or author)
--> clear the other fields
--> Press the "Search" button
--> Each of the sites will have the search for the book you want carried out
- Amazon Note: It is always worth searching Amazon for the book you want as they allow private sellers and traders to advertise the same book. Click on the New and Used links to get lists of the offers by third parties.
- Shopping Comparison Site Note: You may need to change the sort order on the shopping comparison sites to sort by Total Price to include postage and packing. You can usually do this by clicking on the Total Price (or similar) link.
- Ebay Note: Sellers on Ebay rarely include the ISBN number (and if they do it will likely be in the description rather than title) so you usually need to search by book title and/or author.
